Mr. Apiigy Afenu is an accomplished finance professional with over twenty-five years track record of transforming financial performance and business operations across various business functions in the UK, USA and Africa. His expertise covers a range of disciplines including Financial Planning & Analysis, IFRS, UK GAAP, US GAAP, Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial modelling, Digitization and process enhancement, Strategic planning and implementation, Due diligence, Company valuations, M&A and Corporate Governance.

Mr. Afenu has extensive experience in the aviation industry. He worked for United Airlines in the USA Chicago Office as Senior Associate (FP&A) and in London, UK as Financial Controller EMEA. COO and de facto CFO of Africa World Airlines, a start-up airline. At Africa World Airlines, he authored the company’s five-year business plan and spearheaded series B funding, raising US$20 million from PE funds for scaling up the business. He took the company through IOSA certification. In addition to the aviation industry, he worked in investment banking as the General Manager of SAS Finance Group, an investment banking boutique. He was the lead manager in deals worth more than $50 million including the biggest bank merger in Ghana – the acquisition of TTB by Ecobank.

He received his MBA from Yale University Management School (USA), London School of Accountancy where he studied for ACCA professional examination attained fellowship status as Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a Bachelor of Science, Accounting major from the University of Ghana. In addition, he is a certified Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) by Corporate Finance Institute and served as non-executive director of Ghana International Airlines and Nyaho Medical Centre.
